Day 7

Home is where the heart is. My first experiment with painting with light. You will see much more of this, but I will try my best to avoid doing it in 2 degree weather...geeezzzz, it's cold out!!! This is our humble adobe and the heart was fitting, it took me a few tries to draw a decent heart. Slow shutter speed, tri-pod and laser pen (borrowed from the kitties)
Sunset at Kensington Park...gotta love it.

The heron nests at Kensington Lake. These trees are on an island on the lake, it is so cool, one of my favorite spots at Kensington.

Ice rescue station. I thought this pic would be so cool if someone was ice fishing in the background, but Mark did not share my vision...geeezzz...I thought he came along to help.
I just thought this sign was cool...look at the little hook dangling over the fish. This sign reminds me of a dear friend Ty...he is quite the fisherman. I will name this pic: Ty's Fishin' Hole!!!

"Holy Toledo Batman...how does he get his hair to do that?" This is what Sebastian looks like after snowboarding. Makes for an interesting profile. For the record: YES, we own a brush, Yes, we own a comb, YES, we own conditioner....NO, he does not use them.

Sebby says Peace Out Dude...why does that not surprise me?
"You talkin' to me?"
This is pretty much Pete's attitude all the time...you may think it's cute, but try living with it 24/7 ...just before I took this pic, he was barking his crazy head off at me...ME, his mommy.

A cool old barn on Herbst Rd. just down from Bread of Life Tabernacle. I LOVE old barns, I cannot control myself when I see them, I MUST photograph them.

Pastor Ray Lanning
Day 7

This morning we went to church at Bread of Life Tabernacle. All I can say is WOW!!! What an amazing group of people and what an amazing pastor. Pastor Ray Lanning is a cool guy. I first met him at the Black Beret HQ and he is an amazing karateka. He is a black belt in American Karate and is also involved in the Black Berets. He invited us to his church and I was a bit leery, I mean, how weird would that be if I didn't like his church and then I had to see him at the Black Berets every week? AWKWARD!!!! But much to my pleasant surprise, he was amazing. He talked about how, through the ages, different churches and generations had different pressures to overcome (dark ages, etc...) and how our pressure to overcome is soft living. This really hit home for me. I was recently living soft. I had a "secure" job...until I got let go. I had insurance, until it went away with the "secure" job. I had a "steady" paycheck, until...you get the picture. I was miserable in my "secure job" but I did not realize it until I lost it. I recently read an article where Gerard Butler is speaking of leaving his job as an attorney to pursue acting. He said, "Misery is a sign that something is wrong, that your life is in need of big changes." I was afraid that my life would change when I lost that job...and guess what? It DID...THANK GOD IT DID. I am so much happier now. My life pretty much sucked before, I would blame my misery on my house, my husband, my kids, my this, my that, but what it was is that I was in a rut. Pastor Ray referred to being in a rut like being in a grave with both ends kicked out. I was in a grave with both ends kicked out and I was not living. I no longer have the steady paycheck or the awesome insurance, but I have found true happiness. It was here all along, I was just in a grave with both ends kicked out!!! Thank GOD for changes and THANK YOU Pastor Ray for your awesome sermon today. Your church is a blessing and you are a gift from God. I also met the coolest farrier today at church. It was awesome to talk to someone who knew so much about horses and their feet (my dad was a stickler for keeping our horses feet in tip top shape). He is an amazingly accomplished farrier, he is the one the other farriers call on when they cannot do the job. He specializes in corrective and therapeutic shoeing. If anyone needs the best for their horses, or knows anyone who does, call: Charles J. Lanning at 810-623-5964 or you can contact me and I will hook you up with him.
I had promised to do a recap of all the places I visited this past week and give my favorite. I am only going to give my favorite because this is the second time typing my blog as my internet (I have wireless) logged off and I lost all of my content of the last blog (that I had not saved, like an idiot)
My absolute favorite place this week was: Bread of Life Tabernacle
The reasons why:
1. Anyplace that makes you feel as good as this place does, belongs on the favorites list!!!
2. Amazing people.
3. Adorable church.
4. Clean.
5. Great location with awesome things to take pics of on the way there and back.
6. Super clean bathrooms.
7. AMAZING PASTOR WHO IS ALSO REALLY COOL!!!
Until Tomorrow,
Shirley
